2011 Helen Henry Excellence of Care Award Recipient

Tracey L. Johnson RN, BSN, CMSRN, CPAT

Texas Health Specialty Hospital

Tracey has been a nurse for 19 years and has been with Texas Health Resources for more 20 years. She received the Living the Mission Award from Doug Hawthorne in 2006. She received her medical surgical certification in 2008 and was selected from her hospital to be a Fellow in the Texas Christian University Evidence-Based Practice year-long course that was designed to teach nurses who have their BSN how to search for and use evidence from high quality research to improve patient care at the bedside. Tracey is currently pursuing her master's in nursing through Texas Christian University in their Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) program, which is a joint venture between Texas Health Resources and Texas Christian University. This is a new position that is being created only in Texas Health Resources (initially). It is designed to improve patient outcomes by improving communication with all providers who are involved in that nurse’s microsystem of care. She received her certification in aromatherapy earlier this year, which enables her to use essential oils with patients for purposes of calming, reducing infectious organisms and improving mood. Tracey has been married to her husband Mike for 23 years, and they have three sons ages 19, 11 and 9. Tracey and her family live in Tolar, Texas, and of course, having all of those boys around, the highlights of their life are hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers.
