Dr. Catherine Carter-Snell has many years of clinical experience working with victims of trauma and violence in emergency departments, intensive care units, flight transport and forensics. She is on faculty with the Forensic Studies and Emergency nursing distance programs at Mount Royal in Calgary, Canada, and the clinical specialist with the sexual assault response team in Edmonton, Canada. Her research is focused on effective nursing assessment and interventions with victims of violence, particularly sexual assault. Her dissertation “Understanding women’s risks of injury from sexual assault” provides direction for further research to help understand and limit victims’ risks of long term consequences after violence.
