Gamma Chapter
University of Iowa, College of Nursing
In May of 1929 Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau was founded with the ritual of 22 blindfolded initiates, wearing black Grecian robes, pledging to uphold the honor and ideals of Sigma Theta Tau. Standing as the second oldest chapter, 80 years later, Gamma has evolved to keep pace with the changes in the nursing profession and the health needs of our global communities. Gamma's mission continues with a focus on using knowledge to improve the health of the world's people, community and global service initiatives and research and scholarship to shape nursing practice for the future.
