Dr. Nick holds a dual appointment. At Loma Linda University she is the director of the Pipeline Program for a Diverse Nursing Workforce — a program for underrepresented or underprivileged students applying to the nursing program at the School of Nursing. She is also the dean of the Nursing Department at Saniku Gakuin College, Otaki, Japan. Dr. Nick specializes in international faculty development and has taught in the U.S., Asia, and South America. She speaks fluent English and Spanish and is conversant in Japanese. She holds advanced certifications, is a Fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education, and was a Fulbright Scholar to Paraguay. Her research activities include documenting nursing’s participation in the open access movement of scientific journal publishing, evidence-based practice of education, and determining efficacy of distance mentoring in academia. Her teaching interests involve incorporating technology and planning active learning exercises in the context of team-based learning.
