Larry Slater is a full-time doctoral student at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He is currently the president-elect for Nu Chapter and most recently served as co-chairman for the new Region 8 Junior Board. Mr. Slater works as a staff nurse in the Neurosurgical ICU at UAB Hospital, where he is a member of the Evidence-Based Nurse Practice Council Oversight Committee. He plans to receive his doctorate in 2011, at which time he looks forward to working as a nurse educator and continuing his research with older adults living with HIV/AIDS.
