Dr. Braun is a professor in the Department of Adult Health and Gerontological Nursing at Rush University College of Nursing. She is also a nurse practitioner at the Rush Heart and Vascular Institute, focusing on preventive cardiology and women and heart disease. Dr. Braun’s clinical and research interests include cardiovascular risk reduction, exercise, cardiac rehabilitation, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension management. She served as co-investigator for three research grants funded by the National Institutes of Health. She also co-authored four American Heart Association (AHA)/American College of Cardiology (ACC) scientific statements, the AHA/ACC statement on Performance Measures for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, and two AHA clinical practice guidelines. Dr. Braun has served as consultant to the Centers for Disease Control’s Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention for several projects. She is an editorial board member for the Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing and the Journal of Clinical Lipidology and serves as a reviewer for numerous other journals.
