Tau-Lambda-at-Large, South Africa

Judith Bruce is associate professor and head of the Department of Nursing Education at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. She teaches nursing education at postgraduate level and maintains her clinical interest in trauma and emergency nursing. She is actively involved in developing nursing scholarship and leadership on the African continent. Currently, she serves as vice chairwoman of the Forum of University Nursing Deans in South Africa (FUNDISA) and president of Tau Lambda-at-Large Chapter.

Hester Klopper is professor and head of the School of Nursing Science at North-West University. Professor Klopper has filled a number of leadership and executive management positions, including director on the International Board of Directors of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (2007-2011); chairwoman of FUNDISA (Forum for University Nursing Deans in South Africa) (2007-2010); member of the Steering Committee of Global Alliance for Nursing and Midwifery of WHO; member of board of directors of Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation (2007-2009); director on the International Board of Directors for INDEN (International Network for Doctoral Education) (2006–2010); and secretary-treasurer of Tau Lambda-at-Large Chapter of STTI (2005-2010). Her research interest includes: i) leadership development and research capacity building for policy influence (inclusive of social capital); ii) scholarship in nursing science; iii) staff and patient outcomes and how they relate to quality of nursing care; and iv) well-being and quality of life and care of the older person.
