Tore Laerdal, MSc
The Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine
Tore Laerdal is the managing director of Laerdal Global Health, a company established late 2010 with the sole purpose of providing affordable and culturally sensitive training and therapeutic solutions to help reduce maternal and newborn mortality day of birth in low resource settings. Laerdal Global Health is part of Public-Private Global Development Alliance with USAID, NICHD, Save the Children and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Furthermore, Mr. Laerdal is the executive director of the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine. He is also chairman of the board of Laerdal Medical, a family owned company that for 50 years has been a leading supplier of training material and therapeutic equipment for acute medicine. Laerdal Medical has for several years been an official alliance partner to The National League of Nursing in the USA in developing and promoting evidence-based patient simulation training in nurse education. (www.laerdal.com). Mr. Laerdal serves as chairman of the board of three external research foundations in Norway. He holds an MSc degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, and has received an Honorary Doctorate in Science from the University in Hertfordshire in the UK.
