San BernadinoCalifornia State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB)
DEPARTMENT OF NURSING

Assistant or Associate Professor:  (3 positions)

Here we grow again!  Come to Sunny Southern California! Campuses are located at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains and in Palm Desert, with both BSN and MSN programs.   Explosive growth provides a rare opportunity to hire several faculty at Assistant & Associate Professor in multiple specialty areas.

The CSUSB Department of Nursing invites applications for three tenure track faculty positions for the 2008-2009 academic year. Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the University and community. In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the University’s strategic plan. This plan emphasizes three areas:  a) alternative modes of instructional delivery to include off-campus and distance learning; b) the learning process, i.e., innovative teaching strategies and/or research on how students learn and apply knowledge over an extended period of time; and c) partnerships with the community to enhance social, economic, and cultural conditions.

Applicants with an earned Doctorate in Nursing or a related field and a Master’s degree in Nursing strongly preferred. Applicants near completion of doctoral studies will also be considered. Candidates must be qualified to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses, with preference for the following areas of clinical expertise:  Community/Public Health;Maternal/Child Health (Obstetrics, Pediatrics); and Adult Health (Medical/Surgical). Qualifications in more than one clinical area are a plus. Advanced certification in a specialty is desirable. Secondary areas include Research, Health Policy, BioStatistics, Instruction/Teaching, and Informatics.  Candidates must show outstanding research and teaching experience or potential. Experiences in simulation learning, distance education and demonstrated leadership in academic settings are a plus. A history of scholarly publications, grant writing, and/or federal grant-funded research and/or projects is desirable.

The Department is seeking candidates who desire to work in a collaborative environment, participate in the development of our expanding programs, and apply their expertise in multicultural communities. Salary competitive and commensurate with appointment rank, qualifications and previous experience in academia.

DEADLINE AND APPLICATION PROCESS:  Review of applications begins immediately and continues until positions are filled. A complete application should include: 1) a letter of application; 2) current curriculum vitae showing related teaching competence, scholarly activities and clinical competence; 3) official transcripts from the institution awarding highest degree and the Master’s in Nursing degree; 4) a statement of philosophy of teaching/learning;  5) a description of applicant’s interest or experience in any of the three strategic plan areas; and 6) the names and credentials, telephone and fax numbers, and email addresses of three professional references.
