CHAIR OF NURSING PROGRAM – Westminster, Colorado
The Chair of the Nursing Program is a role model who provides academic, administrative and fiscal leadership to faculty, staff and students. This position is responsible for:

Responsibilities:
1) Provides visionary leadership to faculty for planning, design,
implementation and evaluation of curriculum and nursing program;
2) Creates environment conducive to teaching and learning;
3) Develops and maintains program relationship with community and CTU administration.
4) Provides coordination of effort and communication to nursing faculty, Dean of Health Sciences, Department Chairs, President, Advisory Board, and accrediting agencies;
5) Represents Nursing Program in managing internal affairs and works in advisory capacity with administrative team on special projects;
6) Participates in resource management through budget preparation, human, fiscal, physical resources as determined by CTU and CEC administrative guidelines;
7) Promotes faculty development and conducts performance appraisals by:
a. Recruitment, interviewing and hiring qualified faculty
b. Plans and implements orientation, ongoing education and mentoring;
c. Conducts ongoing performance appraisals, conferencing, class visitation and feedback;
d. Provides ongoing documentation related to future promotion, renewal of contracts;
e. Provides opportunity for attendance at professional enrichment conferences or research opportunities;
f. Establishes Advisory Board for purpose of providing up-to-date feedback on needed changes or continued support for specific components of program;
g. Serves as role model in professionalism, interpersonal relationships, scholarly activities and exemplary teaching;.
8) Provides correspondence related to division and maintains complete records on faculty, staff, students and course syllabi;
9) Attends to correspondence (such as changes in curriculum or administrative staff) to agencies including, but not limited to, CCNE and the Colorado Board of Nursing;
10) Conducts regular Nursing faculty and committee meetings with agenda and minutes documented;
11) Assigns faculty and staff workload to meet needs of University, students and individual faculty;
12) Follows Chain of Command in resolving student or faculty disputes;
13) Assures accreditation and institutional standards are met or exceeded;
14) Organizes recruitment, interviewing, selection and retention of students;
15) Role models a positive, professional relationship with CTU administrators, faculty, staff, colleagues, students and public;
16) Coordinates use of clinical facilities;
17) Assigns administrative duties to nursing faculty as necessary based on qualifications and experience;
18) Supervises Administrative Assistant and assigns duties based on nursing program needs.
Minimum Administrative release time will be allowed for the Chair of Nursing as follows:
1) 60% release time for 60 or fewer students
2) 1% release time per student with more than 60 students
3) Other related duties may necessitate additional release time.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing is required; a Doctorate in Nursing is preferred or Master’s Degree in Nursing with plan for doctoral work. Must hold a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado. Must have a minimum of 2 years of fulltime or equivalent clinical experience as a registered nurse. Must have two years of fulltime or equivalent experience in teaching in an approved nursing education program at or above the level of the nursing education program. Must have a commitment to lifelong learning. Requires an active role in profession. Must possess leadership qualities, including the highest standards of ethics and personal integrity, necessary to meet the University’s commitment to customer service. Must possess excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
