Candidate for Regional Chapters Coordinating Committee Chair

Dorette Dee Sugg Welk
Name and Credentials:
Dorette "Dee" Sugg Welk, PhD, MSN, RN

Candidate Statement
As Chair of the RCCC, I will lead this recently expanded committee toward a goal of maximizing and integrating the talents and contributions of the Regional Coordinators (RCs) who will facilitate chapters to function effectively and realize Vision 2020. With the RCCC increase from 15 to 20 members, and with many in the first term of office, this group is an evolving entity whose personality, culture and direction will be developed collectively as we explore our charges and work to meet them. I am committed to communication patterns that create dynamic relationships that will link my experienced mentoring, leadership and Society knowledge with those of the RCs to strategically establish priorities, programs and future directions. I am dedicated to the use of The Circle’s capacity as STTI’s platform for networking and information exchange, as well as to social media, e-mail and teleconferences. I bring a variety of communication skills gained as an international, face-to-face and online educator to best create one-on-one and group conversations with my colleagues. Together we will seek to make a sustained difference beyond the RCCC to the chapters and in health worldwide. As a Board of Directors member, I will take seriously the members’ trust to be an active participant in such areas as governance, policy setting, outcome measurement and activities that influence global health and nursing. Serving as liaison between the Board, Headquarters staff and the RCCC, I will describe the collective practice, wisdom and input of all chapters to represent, inform and influence the Society’s goals and outcomes.
