Professional Background Richard Ricciardi, PhD, RN, FAANP is a Colonel in the United States Army and Chief of Nursing Research Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Ricciardi is a Pediatric and Family Nurse Practitioner and has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 1982.
In what ways are you qualified for this position and what leadership experience do you have in the honor society and other organizations? Dr. Ricciardi has extensive experience in board operations and governance of small and large nonprofit boards. Dr. Ricciardi’s previous and current service to the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International includes serving as the President of the Uniformed Services University Honor Society, leading to the chartering of the Tau Theta Chapter, serving as the Treasurer of the Tau Theta Chapter and currently serving as the Treasurer of STTI. His previous and current service as a member of the board of directors on national nursing and non-nursing organizations includes: Treasurer of STTI, President of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, President of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Foundation, and Board Member of the Army Distaff Foundation.
Should you be elected to serve, what would you like to accomplish?
- Ensure that the Members of the Board of Directors are well-informed on the financial condition of STTI – this is critical so that the Board of Directors can make knowledgeable decisions in moving forward to fulfill the organization’s mission and vision.
- Maintain a good working relationship with the CEO and CFO to ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the Board of Directors and auditors and that sound and ethical fiscal decision are made by the organization.
- Support the development of a novel technological infrastructure to meet organizational needs and the goals of Vision 2020.
