Chapter Leaders Listserv
Chapter officer listserv has been created for you, as chapter leaders, to discuss ideas and best practices, ask for suggestions from your peers about new chapter programs and events, and receive timely information from headquarters.
The listserv address is: chapterleaders@lists.stti.iupui.edu
Sending Messages | Unsubscribing | Listserv Policy
Chapter leaders (presidents, presidents-elect, vice presidents, counselors, secretaries, treasurers, newsletter/publicity chairs, membership involvement chairs) are immediately subscribed to the chapter leader listserv, once headquarters receives new officer lists.
Sending Messages to the Listserv
To send a message to the listserv, simply address an e-mail to the address and send it like you would any other e-mail. Please see the guidelines below to determine if your message is appropriate for the listserv.
Unsubscribing from the Listserv
If you no longer hold office and need to be removed from the listserv, contact Jessica at 888.634.7575 (US/Canada), +1.317.634.8171 (Direct) or chapserv@stti.iupui.edu. If sending an e-mail, please provide your name, chapter name, the office you hold, and whether you are wanting to subscribe or unsubscribe.
Guidelines for Use of the Listservs
Please read and follow these guidelines to help ensure that the listservs remain a useful tool for chapter leaders.
Moderating: STTI Staff serve as moderators to all listservs. This means that we first view all messages before releasing them for posting. However, headquarters is not responsible for the accuracy or validity of what is included in posted messages originating from someone else.
- Announcements: Do not post regional/location specific announcements, sale items or job postings. Headquarters encourages you to exchange ideas about program ideas or events, but not advertisements for already-scheduled events. Constituent Services can help you find other vehicles for disseminating a chapter announcement.
- Subject Line: Make sure all messages include a specific subject line to help listserv participants determine the content or discussion topic.
- Reply vs. Reply all: These two both send messages back to the listserv so all subscribers will see your reply. If you want to only reply to the person who posted the message, you must type in the person's own email address.
- Initiating a new topic: Make sure to start a new message and/or change the subject line when beginning discussion on a new topic. Do not reply to an old message and type a different discussion topic, or the subject line will not reflect what is in the body of the message.
- Identification: Always include your name, e-mail address and chapter name at the bottom of your responses so that other participants know who you are and know how to respond to you if they'd like to request any follow-up information.
- No Attachments: Do not send any attachments to the listserv. Attachments can contain viruses. Do not open any attachments that aren't from a trusted source.
- No Acronyms: Avoid using acronyms that others might not know. Spell out and define all acronyms.
- Administration: Write to chapserv@stti.iupui.edu with any changes in address, requests for subscription/unsubscription, or general questions about the listserv. DO NOT send administration questions/problems to the listserv.
- Solicitation: NO unsolicited advertising, chain letters, spam mail, etc. is allowed.
