Overview:

This Unit is presented using a variety of educational mediums for the purpose of preparing you to take the dosage calculation examination. Within the Unit there are 5 modules, practices and links, a medication dosage calculation quizzes, and Unit post test. By doing all the reading, practices and links you will review basic concepts of pharmacology, medication administration, new drug updates, dosage calculation and prevention of medication errors. Complete the Unit by taking the Unit post test. Good Luck!

Objectives:

Upon completion of this education activity, the learner will be able to

  1. Explore the basic concepts of pharmacology.
  2. Recognize the nursing process as it relates to the principles for patient teaching for drug therapy.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge and safe appropriate administration of pharmacological agents.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of conversion of measurements and dosage calculations.
  5. Identify nursing strategies for preventing medication errors.
