Maternal-Child Health Nurse
Leadership Academy (MCH NLA)

Academy Overview

Academy Overview An 18-month mentored leadership experience serves as the foundation for the MCH Nurse Leadership Academy curriculum. Each mentee will select an expert mentor who will participate in the academy workshops and guide them through the leadership development journey. The blended curriculum of the academy provides a variety of strategies for developing leadership knowledge and competence. The investment in personal leadership development through this comprehensive experience will elevate the mentee's scope of influence to a significantly higher level.

What activities are included in the academy experience?
Nurses selected to participate in the academy will:

  • Attend two intensive four-day leadership workshops with their chosen mentor

  • Design an individualized leadership development plan with guidance from their mentor and academy faculty advisor

  • Manage an interdisciplinary team leadership project that results in practice outcomes

  • Facilitate two site visits conducted by the academy faculty with mentor and project team

  • Attend academy celebration activities including poster presentation at STTI's Biennial Convention
