The NFLA is a mentored development program that pairs each new nurse faculty member with an experienced Mentor, giving the guidance and feedback needed to become a true change agent in his or her institution.
Its purpose is to:
- Foster academic success early in a nurse's' career
- Promote nurse faculty retention and satisfaction
- Develop personal leadership skills
- Cultivate high-performing, supportive work environments in academe
Since 2009, 31 Scholars (mentees), their Mentors, and 10 Expert Faculty -- representing 20 universities, 15 states and provinces, along with several countries and the United States -- have found success through the NFLA.
Research shows that those who take part in a mentoring program have higher job statisfaction, are better able to obtain grants, and are more prolific publishers of scholarly books and articles.
Thanks to generous and ongoing support from The Elsevier Foundation, STTI's Leadership Institute is pleased to be able to offer an NFLA program in 2014-2015. |
