Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing and Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) announce new Educational Assessment Nursing Research Grant

Indianapolis—The Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing and Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) announce a new co-sponsored grant to support research that encourages the appropriate use of a standardized assessment program in a nursing education curriculum.
Innovation happens through exploration and research. By increasing the body of research in assessment, new tools and resources can be developed for nursing faculty. This enables faculty to better measure student’s progress throughout their education and provides students with a stronger knowledge base that they can take with them throughout their nursing career.
“The existing ATI and STTI partnership is strengthened with this new opportunity for nurse researchers,” says STTI CEO Patricia E. Thompson, RN, EdD, FAAN. “With a common goal of offering innovative nursing education and professional development solutions for nurses worldwide, I am pleased that ATI & STTI can work together to increase the body of research done in assessment.”
“ATI is excited to collaborate with STTI on a new nursing research grant to support the appropriate use of standardized assessment in nursing education. We believe this research has the potential to impact remediation strategies, curricular evaluation and revision, assessment timing and key markers for identifying at-risk students. We are anxious to award the grant and see the results in action,” said Stephen Fredette, CEO of Assessment Technologies Institute.
This new grant will be awarded as part of STTI’s co-sponsored partner grants program. Nurses who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply by 1 July 2009:
- Are a registered nurse with a current license
- Have a master’s or doctoral degree or be enrolled in a doctoral program
