The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, presents
B is for Balance: A Nurse’s Guide for Enjoying Life at Work and Home
Indianapolis – The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) proudly presents its latest book, B is for Balance: A Nurse’s Guide for Enjoying Life at Work and Home, an indispensable manual for nurses who seek to manage the delicate balance between life and work. Especially relevant in light of nurse staffing shortages, B is for Balance gives tips and tricks for nurses looking to calm their often overworked and overscheduled lives.
B is for Balance offers advice everyone can use – reducing stress and boosting quality of life – but is written specifically for nurses. Authored by Sharon M. Weinstein, the book shares secrets from her perspective as a mother, wife, clinician and business owner. With chapter topics ranging from the spiritual and psychological (“Knowing Your Purpose,” “Dream Big” and “Destiny in Balance”) to the practical and sensible (“Putting Technology in Its Place,” “Eat, Sleep and Be Merry” and “Workplace Balance”), Weinstein gives her readers invaluable tips for achieving that perfect life harmony.
“Nurses know about balance and are the first to encourage their patients and clients to find balance in their lives,” Weinstein says in her book’s introduction. “Unfortunately, nurses frequently find themselves doing the opposite of what they recommend: they work too much, they don’t eat well, they sleep too little, they don’t exercise and they don’t slow down when they get sick. While it seems a daunting task to slow down, it is a task worth doing.”
B is for Balance will give nurses the help they need to lead simpler, more harmonious lives. Whether a veteran of the health care industry or fresh out of nursing school, nurses will find that B is for Balance has the ability to improve the quality of life of those who read and follow Weinstein’s advice.

“In today’s frenzied world, most of us have more to balance in our lives than ever before. We are driven in a stress-filled, complicated life style that has us wired 24/7. Doing it all, no matter what the cost, is a way of life today. But, we really cannot do it all; we only think we can. B is for Balance is a must-read. It makes you focus on responsibility to self and how that will balance your life. Find your balance and let this book help you.”

“B is for Balance is a truly inspiring book that grabs your attention and makes you stop and think about what’s really important in life. I was reminded over and over again how balance can reap astonishing benefits. B is for Balance will undoubtedly compel readers to look inside themselves and examine how they manage competing demands with taking care of themselves. Everyone with a busy life should take time to read this book to rediscover how balance can lead to a more healthy and fulfilled life.”

“Unlike other books in this genre, B is for Balance addresses the unique concerns of professional nurses who embody the equally important roles of spouse, parent, and friend. The information is timely, relevant, and to the point. Even though this book is a quick read (a real plus for busy professionals), the messages endure well beyond the completion of the final chapter. I immediately found myself wanting to share the gift of this reading with colleagues and family members alike.”
