Media Alert: New grant to support global nursing research
 
The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) has established the Sigma Theta Tau International Global Research Grant in honor of CEO Patricia E. Thompson, EdD, RN, FAAN. This grant of US $12,000 (maximum) will be awarded to a nurse researcher whose work is focused on responding to health disparities globally. Annual funding is provided by the Foundation’s Patricia E. Thompson Giving Circle donors.
 
Application deadline: 1 May 2013
Funding date: 1 November 2013
 
Eligibility criteria: 
  • The project should focus on responding to health disparities globally
  • The principal investigators should be registered nurses (or country equivalent) with current licenses and have at least a master's in nursing (or country equivalent)
  • Submit a completed research application package and signed research agreement with appropriate additional documentation and letters of support by deadline (no extensions)
  • Be ready to implement the research project when funding is received (including proof of Institutional Review Board approval or country equivalent)
  • Complete the project within 18 months of funding
  • Submit to STTI a final report, and submit a completed abstract to STTI's Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library
  • Disseminate research findings through publication(s), podium, or poster presentation at the STTI Research Congress, the Biennial Convention, and/or a regional meeting
  • The nurse researcher MUST be present at the STTI convention to accept the award
