The Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science was established as a council within the American Academy of Nursing (AAN). The mission of CANS is to be a strong voice of nurse scientists at the national and international levels that support the development, conduct, and utilization of nursing science; share research findings with individuals, communities, institutions, and industry; and facilitate life-long learning opportunities for nurse scientists.
