Governance Committee
Purpose:
To oversee bylaws compliance, make recommendations for bylaws changes, and oversee member and chapter eligibility issues.
Expected Outcomes:
- Conduct an evaluation of and make recommendations regarding the interaction between grade point average and the top 35% of the class when either criterion is changed and its effect on numbers and characteristics of potential inductees.
- Make recommendations regarding the assessment of “professional leadership potential” for student candidates for membership.
- Develop guidelines and make recommendations regarding standards of academic achievement for student candidate membership.
- Develop guidelines and make recommendations for evaluating the eligibility of students from institutions other than the one in which the chapter is housed.
- Evaluate and make recommendations regarding fixed chapter representation (2 delegates per chapter) versus representation by the size of the chapter at the House of Delegates.
- Develop recommendations for appropriate bylaws amendments.
- Oversee process of reviewing applications for chapter charter and charter amendment, with special attention to measure academic achievement, and make recommendations to Board of Directors.
- Review applications for honorary membership and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
