Anna C. Alt-White, RN, PhD
Anna C. Alt-White is a Director of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, International, being elected in 2005. Since joining the honor society more than 25 years ago she has served at the local, regional and international levels in a variety of positions including chapter president, a member of the regional program committee, regional coordinator for two terms (1999-2001 and 2001-2003) and member of the Governance Committee (2003-2005).
At the international level, she has been a member of the International Program Committee (1997-1999), chair of the Headquarters Sponsored seminars Subcommittee of the International Program Committee (1998), a member of the Governance Committee and Chair of one of its subcommittees, the Chapter Chartering Task Force.
Her personal goals as a Director are the ongoing development of members, chapters and the larger organization; continued alliances with nursing organizations and fostering partnerships with health care systems and organizations; and encouraging use of technology to communicate more effectively and provide optimal nursing care.
Alt-White is the Program Director for Evidence-Based Practice in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Headquarters Office of Nursing Services. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the Johns Hopkins University, her Master of Science in Nursing from the Catholic University of America and her Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Maryland at Baltimore.
