Tara F. Hulsey, PhD, RN, CNE, FAAN
Dr. Hulsey has been named dean of the West Virginia University School of Nursing and is expected to begin her new role on 1 August 2014. Previously, she was dean and professor at Charleston Southern University College of Nursing and Allied Health in Charleston, South Carolina. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the Colleges of Medicine and Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Hulsey's practice and research specialty is perinatal nursing, and she has served as a curriculum consultant in the United States and China. She has held numerous leadership roles at the local, state, national, and international levels, most recently as the chair of the United Nations and Global Health Advisory Council for the international honor society for nursing and as a governor-appointment member of the South Carolina Board of Nursing.Hulsey has secured more than $2 million in grant funding and was principal investigator as one of the 15 pilot schools in the country for the Quality and Safety Education in Nursing (QSEN) initiative. She is a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow Alumnus.
