Julie Jones

Julie Jones, MS, RN-BC

Julie Jones, MS, RN-BC is an EHR Clinical Application Analyst Staff at Fletcher Allen Health Care. She received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing at Rhode Island College and her Master’s degree in adult nurse practitioner program at the University of Vermont. She is a global leader of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), Honor Society of Nursing as Regional Chapters Coordinating Chair. She is a local leader in informatics as one of the founding members of the first state chapter of American Nursing Informatics Association. She is also president of the Vermont State Nurses’ Foundation.

Julie was also one of the nurse leaders as an EHR Clinical Application Analyst Staff for Vermont’s Largest Academic Medical Center, Fletcher Allen Health Care, during their Electronic Health Record implementation, beginning in 2008. She championed the transition from paper based charting to a fully integrated electronic health record (EHR). She is an adjunct professor at the University of Vermont and a Preceptor for undergraduate nurses at SUNY Plattsburgh College. Her Master’s research focused on embracing the use of e-mail as a mode of mentoring new graduate nurses. This study showed that the use of e-mentoring not only retained new graduate nurses but also decreased the attrition rate for the mentor or season nurse. In her free time she likes to volunteer for the Hospice program and races cars with her husband with the New England Hillclimb Association.
