Ethel Palmer Clarke Award for Chapter Excellence (Founders Award)
The Founders Awards offer homage to the six founding nurses of STTI and the director of nursing at Indiana University for their insights in 1922 that advanced scholarship, leadership, research, and practice. The awards recognize extraordinary excellence.
The top five scoring Chapter Key Award submissions will be considered for the Ethel Palmer Clarke Award for Chapter Excellence. Chapters should submit their own name in nomination for the Chapter Key Award.
Melanie C. Dreher Outstanding Dean Award for Excellence in Chapter Support
During the 1995-1997 biennium, Melanie C. Dreher, president of STTI, appointed the Deans’ Task Force to recommend strategies for orienting, involving and recognizing nursing program administrators for their support and effort in promulgating the honor society’s mission and goals. The 1997-1999 Deans’ Task Force further explored how the organization could better support nursing program administrators to develop and strengthen their support of chapters and work at the regional and global levels. In order to provide recognition, this task force recommended the creation of the Melanie C. Dreher Outstanding Dean Award, which was approved by the Board of Directors in September of 1999. The award was named after Dr. Dreher because she is an outstanding example of a dean who “lives” her commitment to STTI. In creating this award, the task force stressed that the support of deans in the success of local chapters cannot be underestimated, and there are a number of deans whose contributions have gone beyond normal expectations.
New Member Pillar Award
The New Member Pillar Award recognizes a recently inducted member whose nursing practice reflects care, commitment and creativity to advance the profession and whose exemplary voluntary service and leadership achievements have positively impacted STTI, the chapter and the nursing profession or healthcare.
