Purpose:

The purpose of the Sigma Foundation Latin America/Caribbean Nursing Research Grant is to encourage qualified nurses residing and conducting research in Latin American or Caribbean countries to contribute to the advancement of health in their country or region through nursing research. Proposals for pilot and/or development projects may be submitted for this grant.

Research Funding

This grant is made possible with an anonymous donation to Sigma Foundation for Nursing. Allocation of funds is based on the quality of the research, the future promise of the applicant, and the applicant’s research budget. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Doing research in a Latin American or Caribbean country. 
  • Be a member in good standing of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) who resides in and conducts research in a Latin American or Caribbean country.
  • Registered nurse with a current license
  • Hold at minimum a master's degree or its equivalent.
  • Submission of completed research application packet and a signed research agreement via the on-line submission system.
  • Ready to implement research project when funding is received. Research may NOT be conducted as part of an academic degree.
  • Submit to Sigma a final report; submit completed abstract to the Sigma Repository.
