POSTER PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

Note: These guidelines are only applicable to the 44th Biennial Convention being held in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, 28 October - 1 November 2017. For presentations at other meetings, please consult the website for those specific events.

Poster Sessions

NOTICE!

In addition to the poster display on-site, we will also collect electronic PDF copies of the posters prior to the program to include in the Virginia Henderson Global Nursing e‑Repository and for use as continuing nursing education following the program. Please upload your poster PDF no later than Wednesday, 13 September 2017 using the button below:

You will need your abstract ID and password to sign into the system.

It is encouraged, but not mandatory, that poster presenters remain with their posters up to 50% of the poster viewing session times to allow attendees dedicated times to network with the presenters.

Poster Display Information
  • Sigma Theta Tau International will supply the poster board for displaying your poster presentation.
  • Board: Fabric
  • Board Format: Horizontal (Landscape)
  • Usable Board Surface Dimensions: 94 inches (238 cm) wide by 46 inches (116 cm) high
  • No tables, electronics, or audiovisual equipment are allowed in the poster viewing area.
  • Presenters should bring hook-and-loop type fasteners (such as VELCRO®) or push pins to fasten their posters to the board. Using the hook, or male, side of the hook-and-loop fastener is suggested.

Please note: Posters will be displayed for two consecutive days. Posters are scheduled for either Poster Session 1 on Saturday, 28 October, and Sunday, 29 October, or Poster Session 2 on Monday, 30 October, and Tuesday, 31 October.

General Poster Recommendations
  • Be sure that your poster attracts attention, emphasizes important points, reads easily, and stimulates interest.
  • Facts should be printed in single phrases or words.
  • Facts can be printed on separate sheets of paper according to major headings.
  • Define unfamiliar or complex terms as simply as possible.
  • Use pictorial or graphic illustrations to clarify and enhance a message.
  • Use a typeface that is legible from six feet away.
  • Use a consistent font throughout.
  • Use a minimal amount of punctuation.
  • Viewers should be able to grasp the total message within five minutes.
