STTI Convenes GAPFON Asia/Pacific Regional Meeting 15 June
The Global Advisory Panel on the Future of Nursing (GAPFON) Asia/Pacific Regional Meeting will take place in Seoul, South Korea, 15-16 June, just prior to the International Council of Nurses (ICN) International Conference. This meeting will identify, confirm, and prioritize those challenges where nursing’s voice and vision can effect change to advance global health. As part of the ICN event, the Korean Nurses Association is hosting a reception for GAPFON attendees. Please visit www.gapfon.org to watch a welcome video from Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) President Hester C. Klopper as well as learn more and/or register as an observer for this meeting.
STTI will be convening regional GAPFON meetings around the world in 2015 and 2016, where a variety of leaders and stakeholders from each region will discuss social, economic, cultural, and political issues within their respective global regions and develop recommendations for action.

Academy Spotlight: Maternal-Child Health Nurse Leadership Academy Africa
The Maternal-Child Health Nurse Leadership Academy Africa (MCHNLA Africa), presented in cooperation with our funding partner Johnson & Johnson, develops the leadership skills of maternal and child health nurses and midwives who work in a variety of health care settings. The academy prepares these nurses for effective interprofessional team leadership as they strive to improve the quality of health care for childbearing women and children up to 5 years old.
The Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing in partnership with Johnson & Johnson Corporate Contributions is proud to provide financial assistance for the MCHNLA Africa. Support from the Foundation is possible thanks to members' and chapters' donations designated to the Future Fund.

Update: Indy Welcomes All
In late March, Indiana passed its version of the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which businesses and community groups widely opposed. Even before the law’s passage, the Indianapolis business community, including STTI, expressed its opposition to the legislation, noting that the law did not reflect the city’s welcoming atmosphere and hospitality. Due to this opposition, the law was amended to reflect Indianapolis’ welcoming environment.
