Middle East Region Created
The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International's (STTI’s) board of directors voted at the February meeting to create a Middle East Region as part of STTI’s Global Regions structure. This new region will officially form at the close of the 43rd Biennial Convention in November. Two chapters within the current Asia Region — Rho Delta at The Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, and Chi Iota at the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon — as well as a few developing groups will be realigned to this new region. Among other realignments, Chi Delta Chapter at Yerevan State Armenian-American Medical College – Erebouni in Yerevan, Armenia, will be moved into the Europe Region. An updated regional listing by country is posted on STTI’s website. This adjustment and growth at the regional level will allow the honor society to better serve and represent members worldwide.

Our Condolences to Mu Kappa Chapter at Georgia Southern University
On behalf of the STTI board of directors, members, and staff, we extend our sincere condolences to our Mu Kappa Chapter members and all our colleagues at Georgia Southern University after five of their nursing students were killed 22 April 2015 in a multivehicle wreck near Savannah, Georgia, USA.

Caitlyn Baggett, Morgan Bass, Emily Clark, Abbie Deloach and Catherine (McKay) Pittman, all juniors at Georgia Southern University, lost their lives as they were traveling to a hospital in Savannah to finish their first set of clinical rotations, according to the school website. Fellow nursing students Brittney McDaniel and Megan Richards were injured in the same accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these fine young women. Those interested may make contributions to a scholarship fund established in the students’ honor, or to the STTI Foundation for Nursing in their memory.

Honor Someone Who Supported You in Your Nursing Career
Celebrate International Nurses Day by making a gift in honor of someone who has supported your nursing journey.

Each year, for every one nurse who receives a grant, six are declined due to lack of funding. Your gift will help ensure that research and leadership development opportunities are available to help more nurses around the world.

Make your gift of US $60* or more by 12 May, and you will be recognized on the Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing’s 2015 International Nurses Day virtual donor wall. And if you make your gift in honor of someone, the Foundation will notify that person of your tribute.

*US $24 for members residing in middle-income countries and US $12 for members in low-income countries

Upgrades Made to The Circle!
STTI’s professional networking site — The Circle — has a new look! The Circle and all STTI chapter websites moved to a new template that is a responsive design. This means that the page will be easily displayed on all devices — computers, mobile phones, iPads, tablets, etc. This allows you to connect with STTI and your chapter at your convenience! Check out the changes!

Congratulations, Lambda Chi Chapter!
