STTI Presents U.N. Parallel Program in New York
STTI will present the program Empowering Women Through Education parallel to the 59th session of the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59) on Tuesday, 10 March 2015 at 6:15 p.m. (1815) in the Guild Room of the Armenian Convention Center, located at 630 2nd Avenue in New York, New York, USA. This marks the first time that STTI, a U.N.-recognized nongovernmental organization (NGO), will host such an occasion since achieving special consultative status with the U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2012. Other participating organizations are the International Council of Nurses (also an NGO with ECOSOC status), Felician College (an NGO), and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.

Those interested in attending may register to attend the STTI program here. Registration is for any parallel event — not specifically the STTI presentation — and you do not need a U.N. grounds pass to register.

International Awards With 11 March Deadline
The Baxter International Foundation’s Episteme Award acknowledges a major breakthrough in nursing knowledge development that has resulted in a significant and recognizable benefit to the public. The Baxter International Foundation generously provides a stipend to the award recipient. In the tradition of the Nobel Prize, the Episteme Award is presented to a person or team for highly significant research. The Episteme Laureate will be the keynote speaker at the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International's (STTI) 43rd Biennial Convention.

The Virginia K. Saba Informatics Nursing Leadership Award honors an individual for his or her innovative and cutting-edge work in the field of nursing informatics. The individual’s work must have resulted in a significant development and sustained contributions to advance the discipline of nursing informatics. The individual’s work also must achieve a recognizable and momentous public benefit. This award is open only to STTI members.

Did you know that STTI offers awards named for each of its founders? The Founders Awards offer homage to the six founding nurses of the honor society and the director of nursing at Indiana University while recognizing STTI members for excellence in nursing scholarship, leadership, research, creativity, professionalism, practice, and chapter activities. Nominate a colleague today for one of these prestigious awards! Recipients will be honored at convention.
