How do I renew my membership next year?

A membership renewal form will be mailed to you approximately two months prior to your membership expiration date. You may also renew your membership online via the MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL form, using Visa, Discover or MasterCard.

If I move, can I join another chapter closer to where I now live?

Yes, you can either transfer your membership to another chapter or you can join the additional chapter and hold multiple memberships. Multiple members maintain membership in their initiating chapter by continuing to pay chapter dues and they pay the chapter dues of a second or even additional chapters. There is a US $5 administrative fee to process any request for transferring membership to another chapter or adding additional chapters.

How do I know where the nearest chapter is to my new location?

How do I become a member of more than one chapter?

Members may belong to as many chapters as they wish. There is a US $5 administrative fee to process a multiple membership request.

If I move or change my name, who do I notify?

Sign in to "My Membership" to update your contact information, or send changes to memserv@stti.org.

How long will I be considered a member of STTI?

You must pay annual membership fees to receive member benefits and publications.  However, individuals can only be inducted into STTI once, therefore if you let your membership lapse at any time you will need to reactivate your membership in order to once again receive member benefits.  You would not need to be inducted again.  Memberships can be reactivated at any time online or calling  888.634.7575 (US/Canada toll free) or +1.317.634.8171 (International).

I cannot afford to renew my membership right now. What will happen to my membership?

You will become an inactive member of STTI and will no longer receive the member benefits and publications. Memberships can be reactivated at any time online or calling  888.634.7575 (US/Canada toll free) or +1.317.634.8171 (International). Members can also apply for financial assistance with membership dues through the Edith Anderson Membership Subsidy.

I have become disabled. Does STTI have a special membership category for this?

Members who become disabled, either temporarily or permanently, may request the "retired" membership status and pay one half of the renewal fees as they renew their membership for each year that they remain disabled. Members may also apply for financial assistance with membership dues through the Edith Anderson Membership Subsidy.

Does STTI offer scholarships?

Currently, STTI does not have any provisions for scholarships. Many chapters do offer scholarships, so you might consider asking your local chapter.

I've lost my membership number. How can I find out what my membership number is?

Your membership number is located on your membership card and mailing labels of society printed materials. If you are unable to locate either, simply email memserv@stti.org or call  888.634.7575 (US/Canada toll free) or +1.317.634.8171 (International).

I'm retired. Do I still owe the full membership dues amount listed on my renewal form?

Members who have retired from nursing employment are eligible to pay 1/2 of the total chapter and international membership fees at the time of renewal. Be sure to mark the circle on the membership renewal form indicating that you are retired. Retired rates do not apply at the time of induction.  If assistance is needed at induction, please refer to the the Edith Anderson Membership Subsidy.

Do you have a special membership fee for full-time students?

Yes, at the time of renewal, full-time students are also entitled to pay 1/2 of the chapter and international membership fees. Be sure to mark your membership renewal form indicating that you are a full-time student. Student rates do not apply at the time of induction.

Are membership dues tax deductible?

Yes - if paying the dues help you carry out the duties of your job. If so, they are deductible as unreimbursed employee expenses. The actual amount the taxpayer will be able to deduct is subject to specific limitations based upon the individual's tax status. The dues are not deductible as contributions. If an individual does make a separate contribution in addition to paying their dues then the additional amount only is deductible as a contribution.
